Social Responsibility

Together with the Corporación Valora Foundation, Emergia operates its Corporate Social Responsibility Plan, titled “emHelp”, in two ways. First, it donates a percentage of its income to the foundation, and second, Emergia’s employees act as Valora Volunteers, taking part in some of the projects carried out by the foundation.

A Selection of Corporación Valora’s Foundation Projects:

  • Since 2005. Sponsorship of 20 children in the San Marcos department, 250 km away from Guatemala City, in the San Pablo village, Guatemala. WORLD VISION.
  • 2006. Conferral of 200 micro credits (180 credits for women and 20 for men) for community banks to be runed in Santa Cruz City, Bolivia. WORLD VISION.
  • 2007. Construction of a school in Kadadarabenchi, India. VICENTE FERRER FOUNDATION.
  • 2007. Concession of 25 scholarships to form in sciences and technologies students belonging to a low caste in India. VICENTE FERRER FOUNDATION.
  • 2007. “Mother's Project” to help single mothers who have no resources in Baix Llobregat, Barcelona, Spain. CARITAS.
  • 2007. Support of the “Mankind & Development” program to help victims of domestic violence in Morocco. INTERMÓN OXFAM.
  • 2007. Food safety poroject for families through the management of laying hens corrals and beehives in Guatemala. WORLD VISION.
  • 2008. "Alexandra Project” to support victims of domestic violence in Spain. This is one of FUNDACIÓN CORPORACIÓN VALORA's own projects.
  • 2008. Construction of a well that provides with water more than 2,500 families from the same region in South Africa. GLOBAL WATER FOUNDATION.
  • 2009. Construction of emergency houses for families that live in an extreme poverty situation in Manizales, Colombia. UN TECHO PARA MI PAÍS.
  • 2010. Collaboration with the house - home that offers support to cancer ill children and their families to carry out the treatment and to coexist with this disease, Bogota, Colombia. FUNSTALL FOUNDATION.
  • 2011. New edition of the iniciative - born within Emergia in 2009 - to collect money and support for a Christmas celebration with institutions, neighbourhoods, homes or comunities with lack of resources. CHRISTMAS WITH SENSE.

         

     

 

Adhesion to the United Nations Global Compact

By virtue of the adhesion of EMERGIA to the world-wide Pact of the United Nations (Global Compact), Emergia is voluntarily committed to fulfill the 10 Principles of Social Responsibility of the world-wide Pact of the United Nations.

That is support and respect the protection of the human rights; make sure that their companies do not harm them; uphold the freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining. Also, support the elimination of force and compulsory labour, eradicate child labour and pursuit the abolition of discrimination within employment and occupation. Protect the environment, promote environmental responsibility and develop and spread enviromental friendly technologies. And finally, work against the corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

 

Global Policy For Emergia Business Partners

EMERGIA believes in cementing longlasting and stable commercial relations, based on mutual trust, with all those business partners, including suppliers, contractors and advisers, who observe and exhibit a strictly ethical institutional code of conduct.

The Global Policy for EMERGIA Business Partners set out below should be read alongside our Corporate Mission and Values and has been designed with the aim of defining and promoting both safe and fair working conditions as well as responsible management of environmental and social issues within the commercial relations of EMERGIA and its affiliates.
